Hitachi ID Systems Releases ID-Archive 5.1
New privileged password management solution adds workflow and checkin / checkout control.
Calgary, Canada -- August 25, 2008 -- Hitachi ID Systems, Inc., a leading provider of identity management solutions, today announced the release of it's advanced privileged password management software - Hitachi ID Privileged Password Manager 5.1.
“Following up on the the successful Hitachi ID Privileged Password Manager 5.0 release in April, we have focused on the most popular feature requests by our customers,” says Idan Shoham, Hitachi ID Systems CTO. “Customer care is our number one priority, and this release reflects that.”
Hitachi ID Privileged Password Manager 5.1 introduces two major new features;
The first new feature is a workflow engine, brought into Hitachi ID Privileged Password Manager from the Hitachi ID Identity Manager user provisioning product. The workflow engine enables users who have not been previously granted the right to see a privileged password to ask for one-time access to a password.
“With Hitachi ID Privileged Password Manager's workflow engine, IT organizations can grant temporary administrative privileges to skilled workers who do not have permanent responsibility for a system. This creates great flexibility in an IT organization's work distribution,” said Idan Shoham.
The other major new feature is concurrency control over password disclosure, known as “password checkin / checkout”. With this feature, organizations can limit the number of administrators who can manage a given system at the same time, and notify these administrators of each others' presence. This facilitate collaboration, prevents accidental conflicts and strengthens accountability for administrative changes.
Several other enhancements in this new release include an urgent termination function for promptly randomizing every password known to a given IT user, new reports regarding password change and disclosure frequency and user interface improvements.
With these new features, Hitachi ID Privileged Password Manager 5.1 becomes the most advanced privileged password management solution on the market, both functionally and technologically.
